What the Owl Ate

Ideas for Use

Preservice Education

I sometimes show this video in pedagogy class when our students are also taking science methods. Every time I do---most students then work with their CTs (Cooperating Teachers) to implement a very similar lesson in their placements--with success. I would not encourage them to do so without seeing and discussing all the ways this teacher sets up the social collaborative structure and clear objectives for this science investigation. Even students who choose not to implement the strategy in their placement classrooms are able to reflect on how the direct collaborative investigation process benefits all involved.
