Trying To Be Good Friends

Ideas for Use:
Preservice Education

I use this video to show my students an example of a class meeting for a Primary Grade. This video shows how even Kindergartners can participate meaningfully in a class meeting. It is easy to imagine older students thoughtfully contributing to a discussion, but in this video, very young students are encouraged to articulate challenges and solutions to getting along in the classroom. Students share their opinions and feelings about what it means to be a friend to each other while building shared values, fostering classroom relationships and creating a caring community.
