Missouri Youth Engaged in Local Government (MY LOGO) is an innovative program designed to teach students about local government in Missouri and involve them in issues confronting their communities. The focus is both on knowledge building and experiential learning. In the classroom, students work with a comprehensive Local Government Handbook; at the same time they get involved in hands-on experiential activities in the research on local issues involving site visits and direct contacts with local government officials, in the creation of community projects and the participation in a Local Government Projects Fair.
The program provides an understanding of government on the most accessible level, local government, and addresses a need not covered by social studies classes in most schools. MY LOGO is a partnership among CCC's Citizenship Education Clearing House (CECH) and the College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis with University of Missouri Extension. Furthermore, CECH works closely with the St. Louis Area City Managers Association (SLACMA), The Missouri Municipal League (MML), the Missouri City/County Management Association (MCMA), and local government officials throughout the state.
